The Reverend Jenean B. Suess
Minister of Lakeside Temple 1984-2001
The Reverend Jenean B. Suess was born July
21, 1933 at Samuel Merritt Hospital in Oakland, CA. She graduated
from Oakland High School in 1951.
At age 14 she started ballet lessons and continued
with her dance instruction throughout high school. After graduation
she made a career of dancing, working ten years for the "Moro-Landis
Dancers" dancing in clubs in San Francisco, Reno, Las Vegas,
Houston, and Boston.
In October 1963 she attended a Sunday service
at Lakeside Unity Temple and realized she had found what she was
looking for. She became a member in 1964.
Jenean completed the required courses for
her teacher/counselor license in 1975. She continued to work on
the staff, to teach and to counsel. In 1979 she formed The Hayward
Center of Practical Christianity, and in 1981 she received her
ordination as a minister from The Rev. Katheryn S. Jarvis. She
became assistant minister in 1983, and upon Mrs. Jarvis' retirement
in 1984, Jenean became Lakeside Temple's third minister.
Jenean is married to Jack Suess and has two grown daughters. She became a grandmother in 2001 when her eldest daughter gave birth to a son.
We are grateful for her 37+ years of service in our beloved Temple. We rejoice with her in her retirement and wish her Godspeed in all her future endeavors.
