The Reverend Katheryn S. Jarvis was born in Reddick, Florida on July 16, 1913, the eldest of five children and the only daughter. Raised in the Baptist Church, in her late teens she became interested in the Eastern religions. She discovered Unity by reading an article by Lowell Fillmore. In 1940 she began Unity's correspondence course which led to her attendance at classes given at Unity Headquarters. Here she met The Reverend Alma M. Morse who introduced her to the teachings of W. Frederic Keeler through his book, Christian Victory Instruction which Miss Morse had edited.
Mrs. Jarvis served in Jacksonville, Florida as secretary to The Rev. Henrietta Miscally and to The Rev. Elizabeth Sand Turner, noted Unity minister, teacher, and author. She was Minister of Unity Church of Birmingham, Alabama and was ordained in 1956. She served at Silent Unity and as Head of the Training School where she taught many of Unity's ministers.
She became the Assistant Minister to Miss Morse at Lakeside Temple in 1964, becoming Minister in 1966 when Miss Morse retired. Mrs. Jarvis served 20 years at Lakeside Temple, teaching hundreds of students the Principles of prayer and healing, expanding the prayer ministry to include 20 prayer groups and 100 pray-ers. She retired in 1984 moving to Charlotte, North Carolina where she founded The Keeler-Morse Institute of Practical Christianity.
